Kite and sailing in Antigua & Barbuda
Antigua is a pretty large island with more than 300 beaches and numerous protected bays for anchoring.
The coral reefs protect the islands from swell even on the windy side, creating incredible kiting conditions: 15-25kts of wind on flat turquoise waters.
For those seeking a more adventurous water sport, kiting in Antigua is an absolute must-try. The island’s consistent trade winds create ideal conditions for kiteboarding. Imagine the thrill of harnessing the power of the wind, launching yourself into the air and performing gravity-defying tricks above the turquoise Caribbean Sea.
Whether you’re a seasoned kiter or a beginner, you can count on our on-board kite pro, the local kiteboarding school and 2 rental shops to help you get started and make the most of your time on the water.
WeAreYachting.com joined forces with H2O Kite Spot Mamaia, Romania
H2O Kite Spot Mamaia is the first kite spot to be opened at the Black Sea over 20 years ago. Since then they have consistently promoted the sport, having trained hundreds of kiters that have embraced kiting as a lifestyle.
H2O has also organised over 20 yearly international contests and certified dozens of kite instructors that now have their own kite schools, taking the sport at even higher levels.
During this Antigua trip you will be able to steal moves from Iulian Tache, one of the founding members of H2O and also our on-board kite pro, making him the perfect guide to teach you how to launch from a catamaran.
What should you expect from this sailing & kite trip
We always charter the newest and largest catamarans available. You can share a double cabin with another kiter or even better, bring your own crew. Non kiters are also welcomed, as there will be plenty of things to do.
Meals are included and the hostess onboard will cook breakfast & lunch everyday and dinner for 3 nights. The rest of the dinners will be at different restaurants on shore, where you will be able to dive into the local flavors.
Everyday sailing from one bay to another will take from 30 min up to 3 hours. There will be morning, noon and evening kite sessions, depending on the wind conditions. We will try to anchor as close as possible to a beach so the non kiters can indulge in different types of activities- paddle boarding, snorkeling, fishing, island exploring & hiking or spend time at the beach and the beach bars.
As we will be chasing good wind conditions, this trip in particular has a far more fluid itinerary. The plan is to explore the most important bays that meet the best kiting conditions. Despite Antigua being one of the largest islands in the Caribbean, daily sailing distances are short – 3 to 15Nm, meaning you will have plenty of time to kite each day.
If the weather conditions will allow, we will also sail to Barbuda, the sister island. Compared to Antigua, Barbuda is almost uninhabited with only 1500 permanent residents so you can expect to have entire bays just for ourselves!
What are the costs?
All catamarans have 4 or 6 double cabins, each cabin with it’s own en suite bathroom. We strongly recommend to gather your friends and book a full catamaran for the best experience, but if this is not easy, no worries, the minimum you can book is a double cabin.
The cost for a double cabin starts at 4.000 EUR for the small cabins on a Lagoon 50 and ends at 5.000 EUR for the large cabins on a comfort catamaran.
Full standard catamaran Lagoon 42/ 4 double cabins is 17.200 EUR including all costs, with 4.000 EUR for the front smaller cabins and 4.600 EUR for the stern larger cabins.
Full comfort catamaran Lagoon 46/ 4 double cabins is 20.000 EUR including all costs.
Full comfort catamaran Lagoon 50/ 4 large double cabins + 2 smaller double cabins is 28.000 EUR including all costs.
All costs include all on board services as detailed below:
