Explore Patmos 12-19 September 2026, Greece

Setting sail from the historic Kos Marina, our Explore Flotilla departs the cradle of Hippocrates to venture into the “Northern Gems” of the Dodecanese.

Northward Bound: The Sacred and Serene Dodecanese Explorer

This is a journey designed for the modern explorer—those who seek a balance between the thrill of open-water sailing and the quiet, authentic soul of the Aegean. As we leave the bustling palms of Kos behind, the horizon opens up to a chain of islands where time seems to have paused, offering a rugged, wind-swept beauty that differs sharply from the lush Saronic or Ionian.

The Path of the Ancients

The route is anchored by three distinct island personalities:

  • Patmos (The Holy Isle): Known as the “Jerusalem of the Aegean,” Patmos offers a sophisticated, spiritual aura. We dock in the lively port of Skala before ascending to the UNESCO-protected Chora, where the fortress-like Monastery of St. John looms over whitewashed mansions. Sunset here is a hushed, high-end affair, perfect for a glass of Assyrtiko overlooking the archipelago. We will also anchor at Livadi Geranou bay for a quiet day in a turquoise lagoon.

  • Lipsi (The Turquoise Oasis), Marathi and Arki: This tiny cluster of islets is the highlight for those who crave the “old Greece.” With no large-scale tourism, Lipsi is famous for its Aponisos-style lagoons and the legendary wine and honey found in its local markets. We often anchor in the crystal-clear bays of Katsadia for a long, lazy lunch before heading to the main village for grilled octopus and ouzo.

  • Leros & Kalymnos: Along the way, we navigate the deep, fjord-like bays of Kalymnos, the world-renowned island of sponge divers and rock climbers, and stop at Leros, where Italian-influenced architecture and Byzantine castles provide a stunning backdrop for our evening flotilla gatherings.
