Explore Seychelles 16-23 Nov 2024

The Seychelles archipelago, with its 115 islands scattered like emerald jewels across the Indian Ocean, offers an unparalleled sailing experience. The crystal-clear waters, abundant marine life, and pristine beaches create a sailor’s paradise, making Seychelles a top destination for sailing.
Visiting the Seychelles by boat offers an unique adventure that surpasses the experience of staying in a resort.

Why Choose Sailing in Seychelles?

1. Breathtaking Scenery:
The Seychelles boasts some of the world’s most stunning landscapes. From the dramatic granite boulders of La Digue to the lush, green mountains of Mahé, the islands offer a visual feast. Sailing through these waters, you’ll be treated to panoramic views that change with every nautical mile.

2. Ideal Sailing Conditions:
The Seychelles enjoys a tropical climate with two main seasons: the northwest monsoon (November to April) and the southeast monsoon (May to October). The winds are generally gentle, ranging from 10 to 20 knots, providing ideal conditions for flotilla sailing. The calm seas and predictable weather patterns ensure a smooth and enjoyable sailing experience.

3. Rich Marine Life:
The Seychelles is a haven for marine enthusiasts. The vibrant coral reefs teem with life, offering fantastic opportunities for snorkeling and diving. Sailors can expect to encounter turtles, dolphins, and a myriad of colorful fish. The islands’ marine parks, such as the one at St. Anne, protect these underwater treasures, ensuring they remain pristine for future generations.

4. Unique Island Hopping Experience:
Each island in the Seychelles has its own unique charm and character. A flotilla allows sailors to explore these diverse destinations at their own pace. From the bustling markets of Victoria on Mahé to the secluded coves of Praslin and the spectacular granite boulders of La Digue, there is always something new to discover.
Sailing through the archipelago allows for a unique sense of freedom and discovery, as you can explore multiple islands at your own pace, uncovering spots that are often inaccessible by land. Unlike the fixed location of a resort, a boat provides a constantly changing panorama of breathtaking landscapes.

Highlights for our Seychelles Flotilla route:

1. La Digue:
Famous for its granite boulders and stunning beaches like Anse Source d’Argent, La Digue offers a relaxed vibe. Visiting La Digue in the Seychelles is like discovering a hidden gem where time seems to slow down.  The island’s relaxed pace is best experienced by renting a bicycle and leisurely exploring its scenic paths, passing through lush forests, quaint villages, coastal vistas and remote beaches such as Grande Anse, Petite Anse or Anse Cocos. The lack of cars enhances the island’s tranquil ambiance, allowing visitors to fully immerse themselves in the natural beauty and charm of the surroundings. We will spend 2 days here.

2. Praslin:
Visiting Praslin, the second-largest island in the Seychelles, is like stepping into a tropical paradise. Known for its stunning beaches and lush landscapes, Praslin is home to the UNESCO World Heritage site Vallée de Mai, a primordial forest that houses the rare Coco de Mer palm and a variety of endemic wildlife. The island’s beaches, particularly Anse Lazio and Anse Georgette, are often ranked among the best in the world, boasting powdery white sands and crystal-clear waters perfect for swimming, snorkeling, and relaxation. Beyond its natural beauty, Praslin offers a serene, laid-back atmosphere where visitors can enjoy local Creole cuisine, explore charming villages, and experience the warm hospitality of the Seychellois people. It is also an island where we will spend 2 days.

3. Curieuse Island
The island offers a unique blend of history, nature, and adventure. Once a leper colony, this island is now a protected national park, renowned for its conservation efforts and pristine environment. In the park there are also guided tours that weave through dense mangrove forests and along scenic trails, leading to the island’s highest points with breathtaking views. One of the main attractions is the giant Aldabra tortoises, which roam freely and provide an up-close encounter with these magnificent creatures. The island also features beautiful beaches such as Anse St. José, where the rust-colored sands contrast strikingly with the azure waters.

4. Felicite and Cocos islands:
Félicité, a private island known for its exclusive resorts and luxurious ambiance, captivates visitors with its dramatic granite formations, lush vegetation and pristine beaches. Dinner at one of the resorts is possible upon reservation and availability.
Only a short ride away, the tiny yet spectacular Cocos Island presents a diver’s paradise. This marine reserve is famous for its crystal-clear waters and vibrant coral reefs, teeming with diverse marine life such as colorful fish, turtles, and rays.

5. Snorkeling and cocktail sipping on a beach:
An everyday activities while sailing in Seychelles. Picture yourself plunging into the warm, crystal-clear waters where vibrant coral reefs teem with colorful fish, majestic sea turtles, and other mesmerizing marine life. After that find a serene spot on the pristine white sand, shaded by lush palm trees.
